This is your opportunity to recognize clients, business associates, and project or deal teams who have distinguished themselves by their accomplishments, while gaining invaluable media exposure and recognition for yourself, your clients, your team and your organization. The 2023 SPIRE Awards are open to all men, women and project teams who have made a significant impact in 2022 and/or 2023. Self-nominations are welcome.

Nomination Instructions

 
  1. Obtain the nominees consent to participate in this awards program.

  2. Nominees must satisfy the eligibility requirements outlined for the category nominated (Please see eligibility criteria below).

  3. All sections of the nomination form must be completed for consideration by the Judging Panel.

  4. Enter a statement in the online nomination form documenting the project/nominee’s accomplishments: (a) within his/her organization, (b) contributions to their profession, and (c) contributions to the Orange County community.

  5. Indicate who, specifically, will be the recipient of the award, should the nomination be selected as the winner.

  6. Upload a full-color, high-resolution (4-color, 300 dpi resolution jpg, png, bmp, tif, eps, or pdf format) digital photo of the nominee (head-and-shoulders) or project.

  7. Upload supporting materials (up to 2 additional pictures, copies of news articles, etc.).

  8. Submit nomination form, digital photo and ALL supporting materials by 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on July 15, 2023.

Nomination Eligibility Criteria

Women in CRE

The nominees must be outstanding professional women in commercial real estate who have made superior contributions to their organizations, their professions and the Orange County commercial real estate industry in 2022 and/or 2023. Contributions may have occurred over several years, but activity in 2022 and/or 2023 will be more heavily weighted.

New Construction, Renovations & Tenant Improvements

The project must have been completed in 2022 and/or 2023 and located in Orange County. Nominees need not be based in Orange County, but the location of the nominee may be considered. Individually or as a team, nominees may include design professionals, developers, general contractors and project managers. The nomination statement should describe the project and why the nominee should be considered. Please address their positive impact to the Orange County market, and any challenges they overcame. If nominating an individual, describe his or her specific impact on the project’s success. There will be one award monument for each of the three categories. The nomination must clearly identify who will be the recipient of the award, should the nominee be selected as the winner.

Leasing & Sales

The lease or sale must have been completed in 2022 and/or 2023, and the project must be located in Orange County.  Nominees need not be based in Orange County, but the location of the nominee may be considered. Nominees may include landlord broker/agent, tenant broker/agent, seller broker/agent, buyer broker/agent, bank officer, mortgage banker, in-house professionals or other professionals, including attorneys, accountants, valuation and title experts, etc.  The nomination statement should describe the lease, sale or loan and why the nominee should be considered.  Address the value added by representation, due diligence, market knowledge, professionalism, significance of size, amount, volume, pricing, complexity, structured transaction or value, positive impact to the community or region, and any obstacles or challenges overcome. The award is intended to recognize a significant sale or lease and not necessarily annual sales volume or the largest of the nominated category. There will be one award monument for each of the two categories. The nomination must clearly identify who will be the recipient of the award should the nominee be selected as the winner.

Most Valuable Service Partner

Nominees for this category must have been a business service provider on any commercial real estate project in 2022 and/or 2023 involving a sale, lease, renovation, tenant improvement or construction project in Orange County. Individually or as a team, nominees may include title and escrow representatives, design professionals, property managers, vendors, legal professionals, lenders, consultants, emergency services, etc. Nominees need not be based in Orange County, but location of nominee may be considered.

Philanthropy

The nominees must be based in Orange County and have demonstrated superior commitment to philanthropy through volunteer service or contributions to charities and non-profit organizations located in Orange County. The nomination statement should describe the charities, the nominee’s involvement in 2022 and/or 2023, and measurable results or benefits to the organizations. Philanthropic involvement may have occurred over several years but involvement in 2022 and/or 2023 will be more heavily weighted.

Emerging Leader

Nominees in this category must be a commercial real estate professional under 35 years old that lives, works or performs deals in Orange County.  Nominees must attend the SPIRE Awards Gala on October 20, 2023 to be considered for this award.  Eligibility for the award will be based on the nominee’s contributions to Orange County commercial real estate, leadership involvement in CREW and other professional organizations, contributions to his/her company, future career goals, and any other factors the judges should consider.  Selection for the award by judges will be based on impact on Orange County commercial real estate, contributions to his/her company, community/professional real estate organization involvement, and career goals. While CREW membership is not required for this award, members in good standing will be given priority in instances of a tie.

Who can be nominated?

Nominees may include individuals or teams and may be self-nominated. 

What are the qualifications for a nominee?

All nominees must satisfy the eligibility requirements outlined for each award above. Each nominee will be evaluated based on the nominees contribution to the project, the projects positive impact on the Orange County community, and other factors relating to the project, such as size, value added by the nominee, complexity, and cohesiveness of the team.

How will the winners be picked?

All nominations will be reviewed and selected by a designated committee of leading commercial real estate professionals, industry associations, non-profit leaders and CREW leaders. The SPIRE Awards judging panel will vote on the top three nominees in each of the nine award categories. Judges that are in the same company as the nominees are asked to recuse themselves from voting to prevent conflict of interest.

The project, person or team deemed most influential in each category will be awarded a monument award at the 2023 ceremony. *We reserve the right to limit the number of nominations submitted per company

Where will the winners be announced?

Winners will be announced and honored during the SPIRE Awards ceremony on October 20, 2023. Location announcement is coming soon!

How will I know if I am nominated?

All nominees will receive a congratulatory email before the awards ceremony with information about the event and how to purchase tickets. Please check your junk folder if you do not receive our email.

Where will the nominations be displayed?
